To begin with, the paper discusses the current situation of disputes and claims solutions in a systematic way, and summarizes the management of claims from the definition, classification, cause and procedure of claims, and also describes and analyses counter claims and the existing disputes settlement methods. Then, based on the disputes solving process of the YRDP and analyses its great claim cases, the ways and means of disputes settlement for international projects are further studied. In the end, some experiences are summarized and lessons are learned with the above discusses, studies and the practices in YRDP.Conclusively, a viewpoint is brought forward that amicable settlement is the best way for contract parties to solving claims and disputes in the international project management. Just with friendliness, group cooperation and amicable dispute resolving method, each party will be able to perform its obligations fluently, and finish their project successfully. Besides, what is more important is that amicable cooperation and settlement should be in and through the whole contract management process. In detail both contract parties should do the following jobs for amicable cooperation and settlement purpose in order to successfully implement a project:1. Taking an amicable attitude, which is the precondition to success in a project.2. Advance and early communicating, which is a key for amicable purpose.3. Respecting and believing each other, which is the base.4. Being practical and realistic, which is the principle in successfully carrying on a project.5. Cooperating, Understanding, concession and giving way to each other, which is the soul.6. Having profound professional knowledge, which is the guarantee factor.7. Making informal discusses and meetings, which is a better means for amicable settlement.
