A Evaluation Study Of County-scall Sustainable Development Of Gansu Province Based On GIS

The environment problems that appeared along with the social and economic development has made people begin to re-consider the traditional developing pattern, and the sustainable development pattern was put forward as an ideal one. Now, to realize the sustainable development has become the common goal all over the world.At present, the sustainable development of China is facing severe challenge: the large population, heavy employment pressure, more and more serious resource shortage and ecological problems, etc., which are seriously affecting the resources exploitation and utilization, regional economic development, national unity and social and economic development of China. Therefore, much more attention should be paid to sustainable development by the whole society. And it is extremely urgent and important to study the relevant fields of sustainable development, appraising the sustainable development degree of the area and offering the theory support for making and implementing the strategic policy of sustainable development in our country, etc.Because of the urgent and the significant strategic meaning of sustainable development, with the more and more mature GIS technique, the relevant studies of sustainable development based on GIS will play an important role in sustainable development study. Under such a background, we studied the appraise theory of sustainable development and relevant problems, such as spatial analysis and visualization expression about evaluation of sustainable development, based on GIS.At first, the paper expounds the occurrence and progress of the sustainable development, including the occurrence course, the definition discussion, the significance, the index system and the utilization of various kinds of index system both at home and abroad.The second part expounds the international and domestic studies of evaluation index system, compares the advantages and deficiencies of various kinds of index systems, and analyses the characteristics of the study region at the same time. With the ecological footprint as the appraisal system in this research, the author expounds the proposition background, concept, index system, calculation procedure, advantage and deficiency of the ecological footprint in detail. The appraising method and the technological flow were put forward and the spatial analytical method and visualization expression of the result of evaluation of thesustainable development based on GIS is expounded in the end.In the third part, with the data collected according to the ecological footprint index system, the author appraises the sustainable development degree and analyzes the overlay result of every county of Gansu Province under the guidance of the study method and the technological flow and presents the visualization of the classification result of the ecological footprint, the per capita GDP and the overlay in the evaluation study of county-scale sustainable development degree of Gansu Province based on GIS.In the end, the thesis analyzes the classification of the ecological footprint, including the per capita GDP and the overlay of every county in Gansu Province. By analyzing the proportion and the changes of every kind of classifications of each year, the author discusses the implement advance of sustainable development and the temporal-spatial change of the ecological footprint of the county. At the same time, combined with county's characteristics such as geographical position and environment, the classification result is explained.
