| The purpose of this research is to find out the Key Success Factors of Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) packing industry. Since year 2002, China has become the biggest consumer of Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) products in the world. The demand of EPS packing products grew faster than all other EPS products. However, within EPS packing industry, the existing results are mostly confined to technological and technical aspects. There are less information on how management contribute to success. Furthermore, behind the prosperity of EPS packing industry, there are lies obstacles and challenges to future advancement. Studying successful present and future paradigm can serve as useful reference for members of the industry. Therefore this research is critical for turning theory into practical applications.The definition of the Key Success Factors varies with different experts applying the same theory on different industries disciplines. Before 1979, there are fewer researches on the Key Success Factors. After that, there are more and more experts work on this research and begin to agree with each other. One of experts, Chen, Qing-De (2001) summarized the definition of the key success factors as follows:1. KSFs vary with time and environment.2. KSFs vary with industries.3. KSFs are the most critical information for managers in the industry.4. KSFs encompass current and future business operations.5. KSFs are variables a successful enterprise must master.6. Commanding the KSFs of an industry establishes long term competitive advantage.Experts suggest many methods to identify Key Success Factors. Most of those are conceptual guidance. Practical applications in the real world require the support of statistical analysis. This study uses AHP method and Expert Choice Software to extract, sort and weight the Key Success Factors.This research uses the following process: 1. Design questionnaire based on research papers and experts suggestions to ensure the effectiveness of the questionnaires. 2. Send 50 copies of the questionnaires to organizations such as China EPS club, Canton-Hong Kong-Taiwan EPS association and www.worldeps.com to be filled out by individuals involved with the industry.3. Successfully retrieved 29 of the questionnaires (58% feedback rate.) Then use "Expert Choice" software to perform data analysis. Under the premise of confidence interval, extract the order and weight of the key success factors according to importance.4.
