As a brand-new form of enterprise created in the background of internet economy as a result of the development of information technology and the change of market environment, virtual enterprise has its own management mode which is totally different from the traditional mode of the industrial economic age. The management mode of those traditional enterprises is well-known to us. For a better understanding of the management mode of virtual enterprise, this paper sets out to compare it with the traditional mode and tries to find out the essential difference between the two. The comparative study will be conducted in two aspects: organization form which is composed of organization structure, functioning mechanism and cooperating mechanism, and management tactics which include leadership, encouragement, harmony, decision-making, and culture. This is a brand-new framework of analysis. By comparing these factors, we can systematically sum up all that is related to the management mode of virtual enterprise.Only when we have understood this new form of organization well can we use it to rebuild our traditional enterprises. The traditional entity enterprises are required to have a complete set of functions including R&D, manufacturing, financing and marketing. The management mode of virtual enterprise has therefore provided a new way of reform for current enterprises by virtually putting all these functions in one continuous line. It is an original method of reform to introduce management mode of virtual enterprise into the enterprises of defense science & technology industry which are faced with reform and adjustment, and will provide some clues to the on-going "military-civilian combination" development plan. The final part of the thesis attempts to contribute a set of organization models and operation mechanisms to the construction of virtual enterprise in the defense science & technology industry.
