Revenue management (RM), integrated modern research results of management theory, operation research, information technology and modern decision theory, arise in the airline industry of USA in late 1970s. The core idea of revenue management is "to sale the right product to right customer at right price in right time" . The RM experienced well in perishable assets management, such as airline seats, hotel rooms, theater seats, and so on. The basic tactic of RM is forecasting, overbooking, inventory control and dynamic pricing.This thesis launched with a review of the development history of the revenue management. The thesis focused on the research and application of 6 sub-systems of the RM, market segmenting, demand forecasting, overbooking, inventory controlling, pricing and dynamic optimizing in the western hotels. Later in the second part of this thesis, the feasibility of applying revenue management in our country's hotel was discussed.A primary RM system comprised six sub-systems was set up in the third part. The input and output relationship of these 6 part was emphasized. Furthermore, the position of the RM system in the whole management information system was discussed.In the forth part, applying the primary RM system in a 4-star hotel was discussed in detail. The result was that our hotel could benefit fromthe new business strategy.
