The revolution of science and technology in the 20th century has brought great changes to the human society. Known as 'the summit of medicine', organ transplantation is an evangel to patients. The last and most effective way to treat the terminal stages of diseases is organ transplantation. With the development of life sciences, the technique of organ transplantation tends to be mature. However, the severe shortage of organ donors has become the choke point that restricts the human society to benefit from science and technology. Organ donation is an altruistic behavior, which is a moral obligation that every person in the society performs willingly. So, citizen education is very important.Due to difference in culture background, society structure and education intention, there is a wide gap between China and other countries on citizen education. Indeed, the citizen education focusing on organ donation hasn't developed fully, and both theoretical and practical research on how to increase the donors of organs calls for further work. Nevertheless, citizen education is always the basis of organ donation in foreign countries. There are obvious drawbacks in the citizen education about organ donation in China. So, it is necessary to learn the experience of USA, Spain and Sweden, and develop citizen education nearly related with organ donation. The author believes that the best way to solve the exiguity of organ donors is citizen education. It will help to cultivate Chinese people to be a modern citizen. On the other hand, it can bring more knowledge about organ transplantation and organ donation to citizens and improve their moral sense and social responsibility. This paper expatiates the content of citizen education on organ donation: idea's renovation, scientific knowledge, ethical and moral education, widespread knowledge of law and statute, and the cultivation of citizen's sociality.
