In recent years, with the further study of ecosystem service , the value assessment of ecosystem service is becoming more and more important. People study all kinds of service of function of ecosystems and valuating methods by different ways. This paper estimated the value of service of recreation and culture function of Dalinor National Natural Reserve of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (IMAR), which is located in Chifeng City of IMAR. DNNR is a comprehensive natural reserve and possesses a large and diversified natural landscape and human heritage such as prairies, lakes, wetlands, rare birds and Mongolian culture. It is a typical representative of ecosystems. This paper values the service of recreation function of the Dalinor National Natural Reserve by means of travel cost valuation method (TCM), the authors developed a questionnaire and gave it to the tourists who visited DNNR, with interviewing the tourists in the investigated area, a series of information on the traveling cost and time of the tourists was attained. With aid of SPSS software, a regression model of person-time and travel cost was established and tested based on the data collected. A demand curve on tourist—recreation of the Dalinor National Natural Reserve was matched, The total consumer surplus was calculated. It is estimated that the total value of the service of recreation and culture function of DNNR is RMB 97,214,100. This result can be of some interest to both policy-making and compensating of natural resources of DNNR. It is of importance for utilizing and conserving the resources so as to achieve sustainable development. At the same time, this study is also of some reference to other nature reserves.
