Only being accepted under some framework can it be called right, so is copyright. No matter being protected by the king, the feudal country, the officials stand for the king or well-improved legal system. Copyright, as one of the most important members, has become from only protecting the exclusive right of the printers in reprinting to a vast system of protecting the personal right and property right of the author and related people. The work involves literature, art, natural science and social science. The fundamental way of developing copyright is transmission, both printing hundreds years ago and internet technology enhance the speed and width of the transmission, which makes infringement more and more and brings the copyright owner more difficulty in protection. Under this situation an organization, copyright collective management organization, in favor of protecting the interests of copyright owners come out. It stands for copyright owners who have authorized their property rights which is difficulty for copyright owners to use entirely through trust contacts. The royalties and compensation of infringements are collected by the organization and handed out to the copyright owners. With a short history of nearly two hundred years, the organization develops so fast that it exists in a huge number of developed countries with numerous members. For some historical reasons in China it develops slowly and imbalanced, excepting the Music Copyright Society of China set up by the Music Artist Society of China and National Copyright Bureau in Dec. 17, 1992, others are set up years nearly. Because the protection of music copyright started early worldwide was well improved, this paper focuses on introducing the collective management of copyright of music in some developed countries and finding out problems, such as package licensing, in the collective management of copyright in China through comparison and makes some advisable suggestions.
