Citizenship, said that in democracies, citizens with rights and obligations between countries as the main content of a relationship is an important theoretical basis for political practice. Interpretation of citizenship, there are two theoretical traditions: the emphasis on the rights of the liberal tradition and the emphasis on the responsibility of the republican tradition.Liberalism has become the main stream of western political ideology, the right at the core of the negative image of citizens which is shaped by it are also widely accepted by people. To maintain good functioning of democratic institutions, the citizen must have the corresponding civic virtue and to fulfill the corresponding civic duty. So since the seventies and eighties of 20th century, a series of political events have occurred, the republican theory of citizenship which has been silenced for a few centuries is advocated by theorists once again, because it shapes the image of citizens that actively participate in political life. The first chapter discusses the meaning of citizenship, analyzes the two traditional theories of citizenship. The II, III and IV chapters analyze and interpret the symbol, the purpose and implementation of conditions of republican citizenship, the first two discuss the obligations of citizens to countries, the latter discuss the country to meet the rights of citizens.Liberalism thinks that the individual take precedence over national.Republican citizenship holds the holism, it thinks the value of the country prior to individuals', citizens should actively participate in political life. So the active citizen is the sign of republicanism citizenship. But the republican scholars have different views on value of political participation. Some republican scholars believe that the citizen's political participation has intrinsic value, while the other believes that only have instrumental value. Republicanism thinks that the purpose of active political participation of citizens is to achieve common good. In the republican theory , the good is the priority of civil rights, so citizens should actively promote and realize the common good.Republican scholars believe that the republic is he first and most basic common good. Because the republic is so important that the patriotism has become the primary virtues of citizens. The patriotism of republicanism is different of the nationalism, it thinks the citizen should love the liberal republic. Citizens should strive to safeguard national independence and freedom from tyranny of the dictatorship in order to achieve the freedom of the republic. Citizens to be able to achieve the requirements of republican citizenship, need to have political rights, and certain property and civic virtue. The state should implement the republican system and provide property protection and create civic virtue to achieve the requirements of republican citizenship. Republican institution appears to prevent autocratic concentration of power to protect civil liberties and the rights of political participation. Citizens enjoy a degree of protection of property is the material basis for them to participate politic actively. Civic virtue is the inner motivation to promote citizens to participate political activities actively in order to enhance and achieve the public interests.China is carrying out the political reform to improve the socialist democratic system further, republican citizenship can provide experience and thinking in terms of training in active citizenship and improvemet systems of participation.
