| Fanning system was formed upon the special natural and economic conditions and its changes were influenced by their integrated impacts. Taken the Quzhou County as a case study, the evolving regularities and driving forces of farming system were studied, which can provide scientific evidence for regional agricultural development. Based on the statistical data and household survey data, methods of statistic analysis and input-output analysis were employed in this study. The regularities were discovered and the driving forces were studied in view of physical, technical, economic and social. The results indicated that:(1) In the recent 30 years, the main planting-pattern were winter wheat/summer corn and cotton; the crop area enlarged from 67.8 thousand hm to 71.6 thousand hm , the cropping index increased from 1.41 to 1.50 wavely, the sown area of grain crop had the largest proportion and sown area of cash crop changed with the fluctuation of crop price; the yield per unit increased constantly, the input increased constantly.(2) The great area of saline soil was the primal factor that restricted agricultural development before 1990s, which decreased after its reclaim. With the establishment of market-oriented system, the economic factor has become to the primal driving force as the driving of economic benefit became bigger and bigger, which influence the farming system through changing the input and land use pattern.(3) As a main grain production region, under the pressure of population growth, cropping benefit decline, water resource shortage and the pollution in the farmland, intensivism, sustainability, industrialization and modernization will be the basic developing directions of farming system in the Quzhou County.
