Transportation plays a major role in the development of the society and economy. But it also brings about negative effect caused by traffic accidents, which cause great loss of human life and property. Therefore, it is of great significance in the field of transportation security management to find efficient ways of traffic accident estimation. This thesis is devoted to the elaboration on the impendency and necessity of accident estimation, the systematical introduction of the development and trend of the estimation done at home and abroad in regard to accident losses, and the significance of the application of the estimation result. This thesis also gives a brief review of the methodology and technique of the estimation.In this thesis, the present author elaborates on the basic theories of accident loss estimation, the classification of traffic accidents and their parameters and estimation indexes. The estimation indexes of the modeling of the accident loss are based on the linearity regression theory.
