Grandparents'breeding and educating grandchildren is traditional family education pattern in China. In recent years, because of various reasons, grandparents have undertaken more and more duty of breeding and educating grandchildren, and play a more and more important role in children's development. The phenomenon is really existing in our society, so the problem is not "yes or no", but how grandparents can play more positive role in the family education and promote children's development healthily. Viewpoint of children refers to the whole beliefs of how to treat children, including the viewpoint of children's nature, development, rights or status, and the particular importance of childhood. Grandparents' viewpoint of children influences their educational behaviors to grandchildren, and then influence children's development. So grandparents'viewpoint of children decides whether grandparents can succeed in educating their grandchildren. At present, people generally think that because of grandparents'age, knowledge structure, and the influence of the social thought and traditional ideas, grandparents'viewpoint of children is relatively outdated, which leads them to make mistakes in their education of their grandchildren, such as over-spoil grandchildren, laying more stress on raising than education, do too much for their grandchildren, which causing the harmful effects to children's development. Directing against this phenomenon, further study should be carried on to indicate the current situation of grandparents'viewpoint of children: which part is scientific and rational and which part is outdated and should be changed. In addition, the study should indicate how grandparents'viewpoint of children forms. This research uses the qualitative research, and chooses a family for case study. Through participant observation, deep interview to grandparents, the researcher study many aspects of grandparents'viewpoint of children. The latitudes of grandparents'viewpoint of children include characteristic of children, the development of children, rights of children etc. This research is to analyze and evaluate the advantages and the existing problems in grandparents'viewpoint of children, which based on scientific viewpoint of children. Then researcher looks for the influencing factors of grandparents'viewpoint of children and tries to offer some suggestions to the education and guidance to grandparents. The thesis is focus on these three aspects: grandparents'basic beliefs of children, grandparents beliefs of children's development, and grandparents'viewpoint of children's rights and status. Grandparents'viewpoint of children has scientific parts. At first, grandparents accurately know children's basic needs and their characteristics which different from that of adults and they choose the way that suitable it to educate their grandchildren. Secondly, grandparents hold positive view on children's development. They think that between the influences of heredity and of environment, the latter is even more important. Meanwhile, grandparents realize children's subject nature plays an essential role in children's development, adults should found the environment to let children develop their extensive interests. Thirdly, grandparents regard the family daily activities as the important way in children's development, which accords with the children's age characteristic. Finally, grandparents pay attention to the basic function of childhood and promote children to lay the foundation that helpful to their lifetime development in their physical, language, cognition and morality. Grandparents'viewpoint of children has many questions too. First of all, grandparents'viewpoint of children is one-sided. On the concrete goal of children's development, grandparents pay close attention to children's knowledge and skill, ignoring their emotion, attitude and ability. They are apt to ignore children's psychology and emotional needs, children's development in self-consciousness, children's mental health and their intercourse with accompanier, not encouraging them contacts with other children. Secondly, grandparents'viewpoint of children is utilitarian. Grandparents are afraid that their grandchildren will lag behind in the future and eager to let them study various kinds of knowledge as soon as possible,putting competition pressure on the children too early. Thirdly, grandparents'viewpoint of children has weak character of scientific. On the educational methods, grandparents often use scolding and corporal punishment even more, ignoring children's mental health; on the educational content, grandparents teach children various kinds of knowledge which children can not understand; grandparents can not understand the positive meaning of children's development in self-consciousness and view it as trouble to them; on the main way of children's development, grandparents has not enough knowledge of the important educational value of children's play, so they neglect to instruct and participate children's play. Finally, grandparents'viewpoint of children lacks the character of democracy, grandparents mostly use authority to require children to obey them, having no respect to children's will and demand and not regarding children as the equal ones as adults. Combining the participation observation, deep interview and relevant theoretical researches, the researcher thinks that grandparents viewpoint of children firstly comes from their nurture experience and the study of relevant knowledge, next come from the intercommunication between family members on beliefs of children, and the children's development also modifies grandparent viewpoint of children. At last, the influence of traditional culture and social thinking can also be reflected in grandparents'viewpoint of children. In a word, grandparents'viewpoint of children has both outdated parts and scientific parts so we should valued it correctly. Grandparents viewpoint of children is developing constantly, through absorbing the rational factor of the educational tradition, choosing the correct social thought, studying the scientific viewpoint of children, accumulating experience on children's developing, grandparents'viewpoint of children will meet the needs of both the time and children's development better.
