This paper demonstrates that, in an increasingly competitive society under globalization, enterprises are choosing outsourcing tactic in order to detract risks and improve their core competitive power, that is, to outsource the non-core business to the specialized service provider. Third-party logistics (3PL) is the specific application of outsourcing tactic in logistics field. Logistics outsourcing means to adopt the specialized logistics service provider of third party. It brings enterprises about enormous competitive advantages, while new risks, too. These risks, mainly adverse selection and moral hazard, are inevitable and a kind of Principal-Agent risk based on the asymmetric information. So, it is necessary to take some effective measures to reduce them.The first two chapters set forth that the change of market environment and market competition compels enterprises to resurvey the status of logistics from the angle of supply chain management. The result is that logistics is the "third source of profit". In order to improve core competitive power and detract risks, more and more enterprises adopt logistics outsourcing tactic, namely, specialized third-party logistics (3PL). However, it does not totally dispel the risks of enterprises, on the contrary, enterprises are often in various kinds of risk environments and may face the risk of logistics failure. Various kinds of logistics outsourcing risks are listed and risk framework for it is put forward in this part.The third chapter first discusses the alliance relationship between enterprises and third-party logistics (3PL) and gives the game model for logistics outsourcing according to Principal-Agent Theory. Then, the inherent causes for logistics outsourcing risks are analyzed: decision risk, adverse selection risk and moral hazard.
