How To Identify And Assess The Core Competence Of The Commercial Banks In China

The commercial banks in china face the pressure from the homeland and the foreign competition today. We should participate in the international financial competition, if we want to improve our nationality financial sector' s competence and acquire persistent development. This paper tries to study the definition and identification of core competence of the commercial banks in china, and discuss some countermeasures that can improve the core competence, through combining the some characteristic of the commercial banks in china.This paper includes four chapters. In chapter one, we analyze the problems and the core competence which existing in the commercial banks' operation in china, additionally we emphasize the importance of the core competence' s breeding. In chapter two, we discuss some factors that should be considered in definition of the commercial banks' core competence, and point out the elements of identifying core competence. In chapter three, we discuss how to assess the core competence of the commercial banks, and put that in practice. In chapter four, we bring forward some advice on improving the commercial bank' s core competence from four direction: corporate governance , incentive mechanism , across-the-aboard risk management and quickening financial innovation.
