| Maritime lien is an accent legal system in maritime law, but it is a very new legal system in China. In judicial practice, this system is applied confusing duo to no enough relative judicial practice and no deep study on the procedure of enforcing it. This paper introduces the history of maritime lines first, then according to our country's legal system and provisions in Chinese Maritime Code, analyses the characterization of maritime liens. On this basis, it gives a detail discussion on the relationship between maritime liens and the maritime claims secured by the liens, some legal problems often happened in judicial practice and the relationship between maritime lines and other legal systems of China. Some ideas of the author are put forward and some proposals of amending relative laws are given as well in this paper.
