The paper on the independence of lawyers is divided into 4 chapters. In Chapter One, through giving an account of the development of lawyers in history, the writer explains the resource and the current criterion of the independence of lawyers. In Chapter Two, the content of the independence is expatiated in details. The independence of lawyers refers to that the lawyers, during the practice process, shall be independent of the state, the parties concerned and any social societies. Lawyers shall stand on their own feet and views to handle legal cases. In Chapter Three, the writer explains why the independence of lawyers is so important and necessary to the vocation, to maintain the ethic of lawyers, to form a multi-entity society, to protect human right and social justness and to maintain the party-oriented litigation model. In Chapter Four, combining the challenges faced by lawyers, the writer gives his point of view for lawyers to face those challenges and perfect the relevant system design from the independence of lawyers.
