Studies On The Donations Of Overseas Chinese Of Taishan Origin Since 1978

Located in the mid-south of Guangdong Province and in the southwest of the Pearl River Delta, Taishan City is geographically close to Macao and Hong Kong and is a well-known hometown of Overseas Chinese. According to incomplete statistics, there are about 1.3 million Overseas Chinese of Taishan origin living in 91 countries and regions now. The Overseas Chinese of Taishan origin have been tried their best to help their hometown develop,and have devoted to their hometown construction by donating for a long time. Donations of them to Taishan is always a glorious tradition,and is also the most common form . After the reform and opening-up ,the enthusiasm of donations of Overseas Chinese runs high. These donations play an important role in the development of Taishan,and expedite the modern progress of Taishan.This paper is based on the Donations of Overseas Chinese of Taishan origin since 1978.The basic theory of historiography, sociology and anthropology is the guiding methodology. Furthermore, detailed study method, such as case study is applied. The author introduces the situation of donations of Overseas Chinese in Taishan since 1978,and makes an investigation into the characteristics of the donations,the causes of the donations,the effects of the donations ,and so on.
