As a defeated nation in World War II, Japan set its development strategies which is called "economy first and then arms" under the pressure of the peaceful forces at home and abroad after the war, and then enacted "Peaceful Constitution" which refused wars under the supervision and intervention of America. According to "Peaceful Constitution", especially article 9, Japan set its military strategy which is called "purely defensive defense". This strategy created a long-term and peaceful peripheral environment for Japan's economic construction, so it became an important factor in the rapid recovery of Japan's economy after the war. But along with the increases of economic strength and the changes of international and domestic situation, Japan began to adjust its development and foreign strategies and set the goal of "a political power" and "a military power". According to the changes of the country's strategies, Japan adjusted its military strategies. So "purely defensive defense" gradually transforms to "foreign interference defense" which provides military support to the goal of a political and military power. Although Japan did not pose the transformation of its defensive strategies in terms of law, ''purely defensive defense" doesn't deserve the name as "Peaceful Constitution" becomes vacuous and US-Japanese Alliance strengthens. The evolvement of Japan's defensive strategies reveals the changes of the country' nature. Japan is transiting to "ordinary country". This transition will surely influence the security of Asia-Pacific region and our country. Therefore, the subject of the thesis is the historical background, the formation and development of "purely defensive defense" and then the process, causes, and influences that "purely defensive defense" transforms to "foreign interference defense".The thesis will be divided into five parts:The first part, as an introduction, mainly introduces the subject of this study and its value in theory and in practice, presents the current academic situation of the subject, discusses the train of thought of the study, and finally makes clear the whole writing arrangement. The second part mainly discusses the formation of "purely defensive defense" in the day of the Cold War. The historical background means the international and domestic situation before "purely defensive defense" formed which includes the enactment of "Peaceful Constitution", the formation of "Route" and the establishment of Japan-U.S. Security Protection System. The third part mainly studies the development of "purely defensive defense". That is the process of Japan's working out and amending this strategy which can be a basis for the studies of the next part. The forth part analyses the process and causes of the transformation from "purely defensive defense" to "foreign interference defense" since the Cold War ended. This is the most important part that discusses the way in which Japan's defensive strategy transforms and then mainly studies the causes for the transformation which include domestic and international factors. Now the transformation is still going on. This part also analyses the influences that "9 ? 11" incident exerted on the transformation. The fifth part discusses the influences that the transformation of Japan's defensive strategy exerts on Japan and Asia-Pacific region through analyzing the factors in the transformation. In the part, the influences on our country's security are mainly studied.
