| In reality, there are remarkable differences between all participants of the conflicts in construction. For example, the owners have more evident advantages in power possession than the designers and contractors. There is no doubt that administrative government is more powerful than project developer and local residents in the urban houses reconstruction. The inevitability and rationality of power differences indeed exist. It is impossible to disregard it. The aim of this study focuses on some research deeply rooted in the prevalent asymmetrical power which lies in the conflicts of construction.The study defines the meaning, characteristic and source of power in conflicts based on the study of political power and the discussion about force, obedience and compromise in social psychology. It reveals the originality mechanism of the power difference, produces the effect of the application of soft power in conflicts of construction with power difference and advocates the solving approaches from the soft power perspective.The paper takes the prevalent conflicts of urban houses reconstruction and project payment procrastination as typical cases and analyzes the asymmetrical power in these types of conflicts. There is quantitative analysis based on metagame analysis and robustness analysis in the case of project payment delay. In this case, the seldom equilibriums supply the participants with convincing alternative options according to their acceptance. Robustness analysis will support decision making when there is uncertainty about the future.Considering the obvious subjectivity lying in cognition to the power difference between selves and others from researchers and participants and the difficulty in power estimation, it is hard to put the power quantification into practice. So the paper needed to design a meticulous and systematic questionary. The investigation of paper sheet provides reliable accordance to the qualitative and quantitative analysis in power and power difference.
