A Study Of Changes On Daur Culture In Xinjiang

This thesis,based on precious research and rich materials of Daur culture,using approaches such as historial documents analysis,field investigation and case studies,makes a systematic research on the culture changes of the Daur people in Xingjiang.After making a thorough investigation and study of the language,religion and costoms of Daur people,this thesis shows us many factors that has influenced Daur people' s culture changes,together with some characters like uncertainty,variability,innovation,adaptability and diversity in these culture changes.This thesis fall into five chapters.Chapter1 traces the origin and development of Daur people,introducing the developing process of Xinjiang Daur people and why they moved westward. This lays a basic foundation to study the culture changes.Chapter2 foucs on the linguistic changes in Daur language,mainly discussing four aspects;historical evolution of the language,everyday vocabulary changes,grammar changes and the perspective of its development .In this part,some features occurring in this changing process,such as bilingual and multilingual phenomena,the mingling of Daur language with Turki,are also included.Chapter3 studies the changes of Daur people' s traditional religion.From the mid of Qin dynasty to the found of the people' s Republic of China and from 1949 to the present,we can see that Daur people maintain customs of primitive convictions and yurt fiesta,so finally a conclusion is drawn that the tradition and religion of Daur people are becoming and weaker. Chapter4 surveys the Duar traditional wedding ceremony ,funeral rites and diets,analyzing how and why the customs of Daur people in Xinjiang have changed as circumstauces change with the passage of time.Chapter5 studies three factors that affecting Daur people ' s living environments,population,values,economy and technologies,behavior pattern. The author analyzes and conludes several important features in the culture several important features in the culture changing process of Xinjiang Daur people.
