After the end of the Cold War and the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the UnitedStates emerged as the most powerful nation in the world. With its unparalleled political, economic and military power, the U.S remains its hegemony in the Western world. With therising status of the United States, the U.S. foreign policy has undergone a change, and the"New interventionism" also emerged. On the pretext of "humanitarian", the U.S interferesarbitrarily in internal affairs of other countries, and launches a war of aggression in a vainattempt to dominate the whole world. From U.S president George Bush, Bill Clinton toGeorge W. BushGeorgeBush's son, three presidents'foreign policy is variable, but theyalways focus upon military intervention in dealing with national security issues. It is so called"New interventionism". Since the end of the Cold War, The United States launched manywars .They are all the reflections of the "New interventionism."My thesis is divided into three parts : The first part focuses on the background for theformulation of the"New interventionism", and its characters and theoretical basis? Thesecond part introduces the foreign policy performance of the three U.S Presidents in thepostColdWar? In the third part ,on the basis of analyzing American foreign policy, Isummarize the general trend of American foreign policy and Chinese countermeasures facingon the "Newinterventionism".This paper attempts from the "new interventionism" in theory and policy analysis to studythe role of this theory in American foreign policy after the Cold War. What is the impact ofthe U.S. foreign policy issues are also explained in my thesis. I try to preliminarily discussthis theory and the trend of U.S foreign policy of the postColdWar, and expect abreakthrough on certain points, basing on the existing research results.
