As we all known, the structures of social strata in our country have been changing a lot with the development of reform and opening up and the continuous progress of building socialist modernization. Nowadays, we should accept all the new social strata which are propitious to set up socialism with Chinese characteristics in order to build socialist harmonious society. It is a fatal problem to settle urgently that we should analyze thoroughly the external station and the idealistic and political representations of the new social strata by Marxist methodology. From a politics point of view, this dissertation penetrates with the bringing background, essential characteristics and the effect on building socialist harmonious society of the new social strata, and finally concludes on the corresponding countermeasures.There are four parts of this dissertation:The first part reviews the bringing background and essential characteristics of the new social strata. There is a profound social background of the appearance of these new social strata, which have a direct relationship with the reform of the ownership structure, economic system, industrial structure and assignment way in China. As an inevitable result of economic development and social progress in our country, the emergency can hardly been changed by person's will. The new social strata are mainly constituted of people from non-public ownership economy and those intellectuals who have the freedoms to choose their own professions. Almost existing in the new economic and social organizations, they stand for the new era differing from the traditional strata. The basic characteristics of the new strata are as follows: they own more factors of production and have a better income; the member constitution of the new strata is not steady and facing the extensive professional fields, they get more free and independent to select their jobs; and their value orientations and political demands are diverse.The second part mainly explains the positive effects of the new social strata on the social development in China. On account of the rapid grow of non-public ownership economy, the new strata, which are the constructors of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, increasingly play important roles in implementing reform and opening up and speeding up socialist modernization in China. In the face of new situations and tasks, it brings significant realistic and farsighted historical meanings for setting up a socialist harmonious society nowadays and building a well-off society in an all-round way to actively do well in the united front work in the new social strata. Firstly, it can strengthen the Party's class foundation and social foundation to do well with the united front work actively: it will consolidate the Party's ruling status to absorb the elitists among the new social strata to join in the Party; and when the Party members in the new social strata do well as exemplars, it will enhance the Party's influence. Secondly, it is able to speed up the national economic construction in our country. Non-public ownership economy to which the new social strata belong has a positive effect on accelerating economic growth, expanding employment and flourishing market, etc. Thirdly, it is needed to drive the democratic political construction in China. The development of the new social strata is propitious to preserve social stability, promote citizens' understanding of democracy and the rule of law, and construct the democratic political system. We shall hold together the new social strata, lead them to be patriotic, dedicated to their career, honest, law-abiding and contributing, encourage their pioneering work spirit, protect their legitimate rights and interests, all of which can make for forming a society in which all the people can do their best and live in harmony.The third part mostly analyzes the problems existed in the developing course of the new social strata. As active participants in reform and opening up and socialist market economy, the new social strata who promote the economy increased, facilitate independent innovations and practice social careers play crucial roles day by day in constructions of economy, politics, culture and society in our country. Generally speaking, the troops of the new social strata are not bad, but there are still several problems attaching our attention to solve immediately. The intramural composing of the strata is perplexing, and different members have different personal qualities. A few may make mistakes or even violate the law: especially some owners of the private enterprises, who lack the sense of law, should be paid more attentions to; some wealthy owners of this new social stratum have to learn more about their social liabilities and try to be the undertakers. And they need to take notice of their social image, and contribute what they can afford to the state and society; The opportunity of political participation for the new social strata has been increased, but the ways in expressing political demands and interests are illegal among parts of the strata members. Thus, we should expand citizen's orderly political participation.The fourth part concludes on the countermeasures to speed up the healthily grow of the new social strata in building harmonious society. To build socialist harmonious society nowadays, we have to envisage the disadvantages of the new social strata and have a profound understanding, in order to search a better method of the united front work in the new social strata.
