From of old, Taiwan is China's sacred territory, the largest island in China. Japan started the "mainland policy" in the mid-19th century and made it the fixed national policy to occupy Taiwan in modern Japan. After the Sino-Japanese War in 1895, Japan forcibly occupied Taiwan and lasted the colonial rules for almost half a century. It wasn't forced to return Taiwan to China until Japan was defeated in World War II.Although Japan had to return Taiwan to China after it's defeat, it is always difficult for Japan to loosen the deep-rooted "Taiwan complex." It maintains a unique relationship overtly or covertly with Taiwan. Especially after the Cold War, profound changes have taken place in international relationships, and it has entered a new period of adjustment. Japan has begun to adjust its policy toward Taiwan, the development of Japan-Taiwan relations in the economic and cultural fields at the civilian level, began to enter a "substantive" stage of political contacts. Especially after the stage of Koizumi, the Japan-Taiwan 's exchange's level was lifted continuously, Japan's right-wing' forces with Taiwan "Taiwan independence" forces colluding with each other. Japan-Taiwan relations have gradually developed the economic and trade fields to the field of security what have been seriously hurt China's core interests. Hence, it is clearly explored that Taiwan issue has become more urgent and dangerous than the question of history in terms of two countries' diplomatic relations. The article takes Modern Japan's Taiwan policy as its main target, explores the rules in the variety of Japan's Taiwan policy and the impact on Sino-Japanese relations due to it.
