Roman Empire has conquered the world for three times with its force, religion (here refers to Christianism) and its laws. Its force has withered away with the fall of Roman Empire, and the effect of its religion has greatly shrunk with the development of the peoples'contemplative faculties and science. Only Roman law remains firm in its conquest. Roman law takes an important role in the history of law on the world. As one of the most important cultural inheritance in the world, Roman law has lost its validity in Roman state with the fall of Roman Empire, but it still affects the development of laws of other countries with its gigantic enchantment. Roman criminal laws and criminal procedural laws, as an integral part of Roman law, have played an important role in the development of laws in Western world. Many principles and systems in recent and present criminal codes and criminal procedural laws are from the legal systems of ancient Roman criminal laws and criminal procedural laws. Roman criminal laws has done very well in naming and classifying crimes and the procedure it put forward in the criminal procedural law is also very great. From researching Roman laws, we can not only learn the rules of the change and development of criminal laws and criminal procedural laws, but also get information of the development of the society, the theories of jurists and the attitudes of the judges at that time.
