In 1964, France established diplomatic relations with China, becoming the first Western country that established diplomatic relations with China. France is the developed capitalist country. China is the largest developing country and the largest socialist country in the world. After both countries establish diplomatic relations, the bilateral relations have experienced the winding developing process. In May of 1995, After Jacques Chirac was elected French president, the Sino—French relations entered a full scale development new stage. This thesis proceeds from the historical facts of the development of The Sino—French relations, thoroughly analyzes the foundation and the power of The Sino—French relations development, initially forecast the relations trend in future. This not only will be beneficial to the further friendship and cooperation between China and France, also will be beneficial to the peace and stability in the whole world. This thesis divided five parts:The first part briefly reviews the Sino—French relations that before President Chirac to be in power, this period from the two countries established diplomatic relations in January 1964 to President Chirac to be in power in May 1995.Narrates the historical facts of Sino-French relations before Chirac to be in power.The second part analyzes the international background and the respective domestic background and the foreign policy in the two countries after Chirac was in power. Analyses that the Sino—French relations developed in the period of Chirac was in power integrated into the international and domestic background, Emphasis on overall assurance about the Sino—French relations.The third part analyzes the characteristic of the Sino—French relations developed, and this is based on narrating the process of the Sino—French relations developed after Chirac was in power. The characteristic includes: The high-level exchange visits frequently,political mutual confidence consolidated day by day, the area of collaboration expands gradually,the science and technology cultural exchange is more active, the economics and trade intercourse strengthens,but the economics and trade was not balanced with the politics still exist, and so on.The fourth part thoroughly analyzes the foundation and the power of the Sino—French relations smooth developing after President Chirac to be in power, namely: For the Sino—French relations smooth increasing developing ,the common strategic demand is basic guarantee; The independent diplomatic tradition is political basis; The supplementary mutually beneficial economics and trade relations is powerful support; The similar historical and cultural traditions are the intrinsic request; The bilateral leaders' joint effort is essential condition.The fifth part forecasts and judges the development of the Sino—French relations in future. The common strategic demand, the common interest expands unceasingly as well as the French policy towards China keep continuous decide that the Sino—French relations will maintain a basic stable development situation, but there are differences such as human rights, economical trade, environmental protection between China and France.
