The Middle East has been the focus of the world for a long time. The petrolic storage of this area accouts for 70% of the world gross storage, while Iran takes up one fifth.Besides, located in the center of the Middle East,Iran joins Asia,Europe and Africa together, sits at the crossroad of the East and West, and enjoys the honor of "Eurasia Bridge" and "Eastern Air Corridor",which also grips the communications center, lies near the British lifeline from the Suez Canal to India, being the shortest way to the Indian warm port the Russians longing for. Thus, seen from the geopolitical point,Iran is the intersection of great power interests, whose importance speaks for itself.Adding the frequent warfare,it is much easier to draw the attention of people all over the world. The U.S. foreign policy has seen world-shaking changes during the few years around the Second World War,experiencing the turn from isolationism to cosmopolitism. The Iranian Retreatment Crisis in 1946 was one of the most important catalysts during the course, adding fuel to the fire. The analyse of this issue will provide us with a full recognition of the transformation of the U.S. foreign policy, thus helpul to have a better idea of the U.S. foreign policy.Talking about the Retreatment Crisis,Case study and transverse-lengthways analyse will be used here to show the different reactions of the relative coutries such as Britain and Russia, and the subtle changes of the U.S. foreign policy and its reasons will be emphasized. The U.S. has been pursuing isolationism for a long time, and it was not until the First World War did it begin to intervene the world affairs. The Wilson Government used to try to take an active part in the world affairs, but rejected by the Congress, and finally failed. As the Second World War broke out,Isolationism still stood on the upper hand, and the U.S. tried to stand neutral. But finally pulled into war by Japan. The U.S. foreign policy began to change in favor of the Ally, and at last become its member. They fighted against the Fascist together and finally won.Even if during the War,there were frictions between the East and the West Camp.Russia tried its best to enlarge its orbit.Conflicts came one after another during the war,and the U.S. attitude changed slowly. The Iranian Retreatment Crisis in 1946 almost pushed the U.S. and Russia to the opposite sides, and the haze of cold war began to hang over the globe.
