Nowadays, the more developed globalization is, the more spread nationalism is. In particular this year on March 14th, it happened fighting,smashing,burning and looting in Lhasa which pushed the national question behind the scenes forward the stage. The studies on the national question are closely contracted with reality. Almost a century ago, Rosa Luxemburg was one of the excellent female revolutionaries and theoreticians in the history of International Communist Movement, and of the famous leftists of the German Social Democratic Party. According to the characteristics of the era of imperialism, Luxemburg formed her national thought. Whether she inherited and developed the national thought of Marx and Engels who are the founders of Marxism? Whether her national thought is still instructive to recognize the national phenomenon in the era of globalization? It is the main problem the paper attempts to solve.Based on the dimensions of political philosophy, the paper starts with the historical background of becoming of Luxemburg's national thought, and indicates that her national thought were created through the era which capitalism. This is the first prerequisite to understand her national thought. Secondly, beginning with analyzing the concept of nation on the political perspective, the paper expounds the basic viewpoints of Luxemburg's national thought: the principle of national equality; colonial and semi-colonial national liberation movements which are one of the important means against imperialism; "Defending the motherland" is a mask that hides the fact about strangling the national freedom; autonomous thought; socialism achievement will be an unique way to completely solve the national question, and so on. Finally, exerting the method of combining history with logic, the paper mainly studies on inheritance and development how Luxemburg follows with the national thought of Marx and Engels, on the historical limitations of hers and practical significance for thinking contemporary national question in the whole world.
