Tang Zhen(1630——1704), an important thinker of enlightenment and democracy between late Ming and early Qing. Only"The Latent Book"(QIANSHU) making him enough an important position in the Chinese history of thinking, although handed down was his several poems except with"The Latent Book". Because a lot of his thoughts reflected exactly the process of disintegration of China's feudal society and coinstantaneous germination of new ideas of citizen in the period of sprout capitalism, therefore he undoubtedly became one representative of the thinkers in the early Qing Dynasty.This paper tries, from five parts, (a) the Tang Zhen's society of times, (b) philosophy, (c) democratic ideas of the enlightenment, (d) social thought, and (e) military thinking, to discuss his thoughts, in an attempt to provide a train of thought for him in the right position among the Chinese history of thinking.
