History, Reality And Outlook Of Turkey Application On Membership Of The EU

Turkey,a beautiful,passionate and magic country,causes people unlimited imagination and it also has many opportunities as a developing country crossing Asian and European continents.Here passes on a spirit that shows respect for oriental culture and western opening up,democracy and freedom. Since the founding of the nation in 1923,Turkey has regarded the integration into Europe as an ever-lasting dream.It spanned 50 years since the country applied for contact-member state in July,1959.Owing to various obstacles in civilization,economy and politics.European Union has held a indifferent attitude towards Turkey's joining EU and so the relation between them always remains a standstill.On 4^th October,2005,the issue of Turkey joining EU was formally launched,and it turned a new page in history.Though EU defines the relation with Turkey obscurely and the two sides keep each other at arm's length,it shows there lie enormously real and potential interests.And in the process,the sides concerned took active steps and expected development.So it is predictable that the unique strategy superiority of Turkey increasingly outstands with the changes of international situation.Whereas EU desires to play a more important role,ignoring Turkey,it is unwise.In the era of globalization with the features of reciprocity and mutual benefit,win-win coexistence,EU should design a framework to persuade all members to accept Turkey on the precondition of Turkey deepening its reform,which meets not only the overall characteristics and requirement of the times but also the long run interests of the two sides.
