Talents are the basis of building and developing the army and also the key to building the informationized army and winning modern wars. The senior officers of the Military Commission showed great foresight and established a new system of educational institutions in 1999 and carried out the training way of "formal education with integrated training, dividing holding posts and training" to cultivate talents with high qualities and comprehensive military commanding abilities. Management is the theme of army construction and military academy is the cradle for cultivating military talents. Therefore, the management of students in the military academies is of utmost importance. The students' squadron is an important basis of the construction of military academies. It is also a melting pot for students to grow up in a healthy way. The self-management of students in the military academies is in accordance with their psychological characteristics and the objective demand for talents. Meanwhile, it is in line with the tendency of modern management which is humanized, democratic and scientific. There is abundant study home and abroad on the management of students. As for their self-management, there are less researches.Based on the study of development history of self-management and the current management situation of students in the military academies, it expounds the research background, significance, and current research situation of the paper. It analyzes the theory of self-management and its value. With the application of research methods such as example-analyzing and referring to reference books, it defines "formal education with integrated training" student, sense of subject, students' management, self-management and students' self-management and so on. The paper analyzes the managing situation, managing characteristics and the current situation of self-management of the "formal education with integrated training" students. It finds out the reason for the lack of self-management which is in accordance with materialist dialectics and is resulted from both internal and external causes.The internal cause of solving the lack of self-management is to establish subjective educational theory, cultivate students' sense of subject and lead the work of students' self-management. The external cause is to set up command system for students' self-management, adjust the officer's management strategies and strengthen the management of the leading cadres.The breakthrough of the paper is that it finds out the theory basis and the value analysis of self-management. With the application of materialist dialectics, in chapter four and five it points out the internal cause for the lack of self-management and also solves the external essential cause. Which is practical and of some value to the self-management of "formal education with integrated training" students.
