On Civil Morality Building In China's Harmonious Society

Building socialist harmonious society, will be quite significant not only for it is ours ideal shape of society that we are seeking, but also for it is ours chief task that we are meeting. It is a rather difficult problem for us to build a socialist harmonious society. General Secretary Hu Jintao has pointed out, "Whether a society is harmonious and whether a country keeps long period of political stability, judged heavily on the ideological and moral qualities of the whole society members' . There is no harmonious society for no common ideals and beliefs and no good ethics. " Therefore, improving civic morality is the essential part for building harmonious society.This paper contains five parts:In the introduction, first, I pointed out the background and significance of topics based on our social reality, e.g., "poor quality milk powders event" in Fuyang City, illuminated some problems in the process of our civil morality building and its significant roles in socialist harmonious society building. Then, I pointed out the study of current conditions. There are two problems can be summarized in this research area: the meaning of civil morality and the paths of civil morality building.Chapter one expound the relations between civil morality construction and harmonious society building. First, discussed harmonious society' s meaning. Second, analyzed the tasks of civil morality construction. Then, laid special stress on statue and function of civil morality construction in the process of harmonious society building.Chapter two expound the basic theories of civil morality building. First, discussed the idea of rule by virtue which is a political thought occupied a leading position in traditional society. Second, in contrast, analyzed the features of civil morality construction in western countries. Then, laid special stress on the thoughts of Marx' s social morals construction.Chapter three expound the current situation of our civil morality construction building. First, discussed the achievements for our civil morality construction building in transforming society. Second, analyzed the chief problems that we meet in the process of civil morality building and the contributory causes of these problems.Chapter four expound the paths of our civil morality building. First, discussed the moral atmosphere, which acts as an object element, plays an important role in civil morality education. Second, analyzed the validity of civil morality construction from two different views of "advanced nature" and "universality". Last , laid special stress on the combination of moral self-discipline and institutional guarantee.In brief, the level of civil morality represents the civilization of a society and an age. Civil morality buildings are important premise, guarantee and part for setting up a harmonious society. For this reason, this paper based on the logic frame: started with the relations between harmonious society and civil morality, analyzed on the problems contains in the process of civil morality building which to review the evolution theory and achievements of civil morality building, brought the strategies based on previous study results and practice, made an initial try for studying the problems of civil morality.
