In the times of Web2.0, the video sharing websites are booming fast globally. When we are enjoying their interactive features, it is also crucial for us to consider seriously how to protect the copyrights on the Internet and how to judge the tort liability of the websites themselves in an effective manner.Against the above background, the thesis consists of six sections as follows:Introduction and Chapter One serve as the realistic support for later chapters. Introduction lists a number of typical cases including the one the author himself has handled. Chapter One outlines the development of the video websites and present difficulties.Chapter Two considers the essence of copyright on the Internet, i.e. the right of information network distribution and focus on the fair use system and the statutory licensing system in the network environment. Chapter Three undertakes the task of analyzing the tort liability of video websites mainly from its imputation and exemption.Chapter Four demonstrates the legal conflicts and legal application of video websites infringement.On such a basis, in the last section, the author concludes the research and furthers the above discussion in the light of development.The author believes that the thesis presents simultaneously a summary and a new beginning.
