The relationship between China and South Korea is one of the great important bilateral relations in the Northeast Asia. The development of the relationship between China and Korea is not'only influence the peace and stability of Korean Peninsula, but also has the profound influence to the entire Northeast Asia area's situation. On February 25th,2008, Lee Myung-bak took office as the 17th president of South Korean officially. After Lee Myung-bak came on stage being in power, the new government proposed foreign policy of pragmatism, it was different from the first two presidents'"sunlight policy" "Peace and prosperity", and the independent diplomatic idea. The foreign policy of Lee's government even more stressed "the union and the strength", such as reconstructing the South Korea and US Union, carrying strong "the new deal" to South Korea, making mature South Korea and Japan relations, promoting the Sino-South Korean relations to strategic cooperative partnership, and developing Russian energy diplomacy. Pragmatism diplomacy reflects the diplomatic concept of Lee's government, and its implementation will certainly has the significant influence to the Sino-South Korean relations as well as the Northeast Asia strategy pattern.Lee's government pragmatism foreign policy was in pursuit for the interests of the state, is was practical and flexible, but during his ruling over two years, his implementation of the foreign policy is not smooth. Approving American beef access Korean market with no restrictions caused "beef storm", and political unrest, it seriously damaged the prestige of Lee's government. In relations with Japan, "DuDao dispute" was a heavy blow to the development of South Korea and Japan's mature partnership, and lee also in history and territorial issues inevitably. In this predicament, he strove to improve the relationship between Korea. To North Korea policy, South Korea required to help them and for denuclearization, and put forward the new policy "non nuclear, open, 3000" and "the great compromise" policy, but it wasn't ease the peninsula's situation which increasingly tense after Lee myung-bak's ruling. South Korea and Russia's energy diplomacy, through the visiting and signing economic cooperation agreement for expanding overseas, sharing resources exploitation, it already had the interrelation. The Sino-South Korea relations promoted to strategic partnership which can push deep cooperation relationship between them. The relationship between countries cannot simply use "practical" standard to solute all problems. Pragmatism diplomacy has advantages, such as maintenance of interests, flexible, etc. If we use them improperly, they would be shortcomings, such as shortsighted, changeful. The formulation of a state's foreign policy should have long-term, stable, and it cannot only absorbed in immediate benefits.China and South Korea has a long history and culture origin and close economic and trade relations, therefore, the two countries should be mutual cherish and long-term cooperative partner. The two together, must make greater contribution for the peace and development in the Northeast Asia.
