In Machiavelli's study of Roman history, a lot of words are used to discuss the relationship between freedom and corruption, which constitute the main body of Machiavelli's anti-corruption thought. What relations are between freedom and corruption exactly? Have Machiavelli paid attention to the problem of corruption? After studying, I found that Machiavelli's "political corruption Theory" inherited the idea of "system of government corruption" which is created by Aristotle, and his research is included in but also beyond the government system. Because he was faced with two different kinds of corruption:the corruption of Christianity and the secular regime of corruption.Machiavelli's study about the reason of corruption focuses on the relations between freedom and corruption. Machiavelli put forward a "corruption of the soil" concept, He said "there is no corruption where people are easy to managed; it is difficult to establish a monarchy where there is equality; it is difficult to establish the Republic where there is no equality." In Machiavelli, man is easy to be corrupted, which is the main cause of corruption. To prevent the corruption of Christianity, we need to establish a strong and stable republic state, but Florence, in the absence of free soil, is difficult to establish the Republic state.Although free republic is difficult to establish in the corruptive people, but Machiavelli proposed long-term measures to prevent government corruption. For example, mixed form of government in order to avoid the disadvantages of a single system of government, using the power of religion and law to improve the soil of corruption. When an internal corruption happens, the people who wants to get rid of it, if not in a full grasp, should first learn to compromise, without coming up reforms and innovations to stimulate it. That advice for people determined to get rid of corruption should be carefully considered. After research of Machiavelli's anti-corruption thought, I try to get some inspiration for Chinese political civilization construction. Social stability only can reach when freedom and corruption achieve a certain balance. China, not to pursue the separation of powers and multi-party governing, should put emphasis on the potential of people's congress system, and gradually raise people's political capacity.
