Vocabulary teaching is always attached great importance to by primary and secondary school teachers. However, due to different primary and secondary teaching goals, teachers adopt different teaching strategies so that students use different learning strategies and produce different results. By means of questionnaires, individual interviews, classroom observation, etc., I've discovered that vocabulary is the greatest issue to both teachers and students in our school. In the course of vocabulary teaching, teachers use simple teaching methods to teach words isolated from context, without organizing the students to practice in curricular activities. As a result, students only take notes and recite the word list to learn vocabulary, lacking a sense of context. In fact, the context is closely related to the meaning of words. Context is the key to vocabulary teaching. This study focuses on memory strategies and training procedure development on the basis of context. I'm trying to help my students study vocabulary effectively and quickly get used to junior high school English learning.According to the situation of vocabulary teaching in Shanghai, the students' characteristics and their strategies in vocabulary learning, I've sought to establish links between primary and secondary schools in vocabulary teaching, especially in vocabulary presentation, vocabulary consolidation and vocabulary application. I've designed twelve experimental items of vocabulary learning for my sixth-grade students to utilize in class so as to improve their memory capability. The results have revealed Mnemonic Strategies Training is absolutely necessary for the students at Grade Six. The vocabulary memory strategy training should be set into classroom teaching during the interface of primary and secondary schools. In the teaching process, teachers should make full use of materials, create context for students to learn words. And if these strategies are trained properly, students' vocabulary memory performance will be improved significantly.
