There is a prominent phenomenon in the higher education, that the hearing impaired students, having graduated from normal high school, who accounts for minor number of the total hearing impaired students, were founded hardly integrated into the deaf students,who accounts for main number of the total. The former was usually informally called people with hard of hearing, while the latter were called the deaf. And many significant differences have been founded between the two groups in learning and living habits. The students with hard of hearing, who are neither integrated into the deaf students, nor integrated into the healthy students, were in some kind of marginal position. Their behavior and mood problems are usually serious and hard for teachers to solve. This research is proposed just basing on the problems to discover the reason of the situation.Qualitative research method is chosen for this research. And two students with hard of hearing were chosen as the objects, for being interviewed and observed to collect the information. As to research process, a supposed theory was proposed, following with collecting data in the situation. During the period of analyzing the information and data, generic analysis and situation analysis were together apply to the research. And then the problem to be explored was clarified, following with another researching process, till the wanted results were found. The results includes, the first, describing the formation of relationships among the students with hard of hearing, the deaf and the healthy students. The second, the relationship between identity status and the marginal position. The third, the explanation to how the need for affiliation affecting the emotion. The forth, the cause of differentiation among the three groups. The fifth, the relationship between self-expectation of the students with hard of hearing before the healthy ones and attractive abilities evaluation. And, the sixth, the relationship between sign language and identifying. Then, a grounded theory was concluded ,that capabilities can bring positive self-expectation to the students with hard of hearing, and weaken the pain caused by lack of need of affiliation, and urge active external performance.At last, the conclusion of this research is whether the relationships of the hard of hearing will turn to be marginal position depends on the attitude of the hard of hearing offering to the deaf. Learning sign language and give more active interpersonal contacting can help to construct positive relationships between the hard of hearing and the deaf. And, the results can bring the hard of hearing more acceptation and affirmation from both the deaf and the healthy people.
