Academy was a wonderful work of China's ancient education. Academy lasted for about a thousand years, from generation to disappearance. It played an important role in the education development of China's feudal period and personnel training.At the beginning of Northern Song Dynasty, Songyang Academy, Yuelu Academy of Hunan Province, Bailudong Academy of Jiangxi Province and Yingtian Academy were the four well-known academies. Songyang Academy was established earlier than others, and was bestowed books earlier from imperial court. Its education philosophy and running methods had leading and creating effect on the development of other academies. Songyang Academy with a long history development, from external environment creation to internal selection of teachers, from organization management to study regulatory treaties, from teaching management to fund management, has formed a comprehensive education system and accumulated a lot of valuable education experiences. The research on the education practice and running thoughts of Songyang Academy has an important instructive to today's higher education. So it is significant to persist the philosophy of master governance and carry out the plan of teachers training; to strengthen campus culture construction; to promote the diversity of Higher education, to improve Higher education quality.The paper was divided into six parts:The first part, Introduction. It generally introduces the reasons and significance of the thesis, as well as the research actuality, illustrates the thesis's intention and methods.The second part, The history of Songyang Academy. The writer analyzed the development of various stages of Songyang Academy, including historical background, reasons and profiles, in order to present the whole history of Songyang Academy.The third part, The running condition of Songyang Academy. This part is mainly discussed about two aspects:external environ-ment and internal factors. External environment includes Academy's location, the relationship of Buddhist and Academy, Academy's books and worship activities, Academy's buildings and so on. Internal factors include president appointment, teacher's selection and personnel training.The fourth part, The running philosophy of Songyang Academy. This part is based on historical of Songyang Academy. It analyses the running philosophy of Songyang Academy in various periods. The cause of it relates to its politics and economics, the social culture and scholar vogue.The fifth part, The running methods of Songyang Academy. The writer discussed the content from five aspects:organization management, teaching management, student management and funds management.The sixth part, The enlightenment for contemporary education from Songyang Academy. We can know gain and loss from history. Through analyze Songyang Academy's running thoughts, we can get rich experiences and make use for contemporary higher education.
