Throughout all kinds of efforts in order to improve English teaching in the history of English teaching, it's not difficult that the improvement of the quality of teachers, especially the continuous development of teachers' teaching belief is the key problems to solve English teaching. English teachers in the rural junior middle schools are almost the initiator of the countryside students who accept English education; therefore, their teaching beliefs of English teaching, teacher-student relationships and etc have great influence on the whole English teaching. The teachers' inner teaching beliefs will be changed first so that the teaching will be reformed effectively. This research assumes that junior middle school English teachers' teaching belief consist of seven elements:students, teachers, teaching contents (curriculum), teaching methods, teaching objectives, teaching environment and evaluative feedback. The study aims to explore the current situation and influence factors of English teachers'teaching beliefs in the rural junior middle schools. This paper does a questionnaire on 266 English teachers in rural junior middle schools from Chongqing and Sichuan, and conducts and interviews 11 teachers who have the different age, education, school or other qualifications. The results of the survey show that most teachers have a clear teaching belief, and has accepted the new curriculum concept:the English teaching with students as the center, to regular teaching reflection, assessment must be through the formative and summative assessment combined and etc. By internal and external and other environmental factors influence, these teaching behaviors change relatively slowly. Most English teachers take a session for a cycle in the rural junior middle school. Teachers teach different grade, for teaching beliefs are slightly different. Generally speaking, in Grade7 is in favor of a constructive teaching concept; grade8 is a turning point; in grade9. because of the pressure Entrance Examination to the Senior High School, teachers' teaching beliefs gradually turns into the traditional teaching concept, which is one-way and mechanical teaching method to explain the related test primarily. Their teaching beliefs and classroom teaching practice have certain differences, which are mainly composed of following contradictions caused by the layer and contradictoriness of overall teaching beliefs among colleagues and the influence of present education on teaching beliefs:between experiential teaching beliefs and own professional quality and the targets of the new curriculum standard; teacher to student's expectations and the students' practical level. According to these influence of the factors, this research puts forward the suggestions of developing the English teaching beliefs in the rural junior middle schools from three aspects:society, school and teachers. The investigations on English teachers' teaching show that we should overcome various obstacles of affecting English teaching beliefs in the rural junior middle schools, and rebuild the impeccable teachers' teaching belief systems, in order to guarantee the quality of the English teaching in the rural junior middle schools.
