Fertility problems is one of the important component of the population problem, and it relates directly to a certain period population structure. Fertility problems directly reflected in people's fertility behavior and birth ideas. And to a certain extent, birth ideas guide and determines the fertility behavior. So, for fertility concept research and discussion can help people to understand fertility behavior, particularly for the understanding of different groups fertility behavior. Influence factors of fertility concept performance in many aspects, but the cultural factor is one of the important forces of factors, due to the long dual economic structure in China since the influence of family background, urban and rural differences fertility concept larger, its also exist great difference in the social modernization, urban families the front, fertility concept tend to the modern new concept, while the vast rural areas than urban families family long inheritance and continued our traditional culture ideas, and combined with its region in different social customs, rural areas of both traditional and does not form the local characteristics of local culture, guidance and affects the social behavior of rural households, including for fertility concept and fertility behavior requirements. Local culture for rural families to fertility concept research on rural family fertility behavior and rural population and family status, and then to the understanding of rural social gender equality and social economic development.This article through to GanSu province rural TianShui city case research, with sociology theory and method for guidance and basis, the analysis and study the local culture and the relationship between fertility concept rural households. Local culture, the study found the concept in today's rural families still plays an important part in, the specific performance:(1) fertility purposes of the traditional and ideas still apparent; (2) birth gender preference affections serious "boy preference"; (3) in childbearing ideal number and gender structure concentrated tend to "have son of two women," girls state; (4) the birth quality pay attention to more on improving the quality of family, but exist obvious gender differences. The reasons for both the culture, and the influences of social groups with today's society fertility are closely related, but also rely on the rational choice of individual fertility.
