Chitosan is a natural alkaline multiple sugar which, as a safe biological material, has been widely used. It can reduce blood fat and serum cholesterol and adjust immune system for the human body. It also has the health protection performance such as the free radical scavenging and the adjustment of blood sugar thickness etc. This study adopts the methods of taking chitosan orally once a dosage before the quantitative load with great strength and taking chitosan orally with small dosages for long time load and observes the changes of indexes of the blood lactic acid and the vigour and the changes of the adhesive function of erythrocytes before and after the quantitative load of athletes, as well as the index changes of the activity of natural killer cells , the immune globulin IgG,IgA and IgM under the long time quiet state. The results show as follows:1. After the quantitative load with great strength, the receptor garland ratio of erythrocytes C3b and the immune compound garland ratio in both experimental group and comparative group the obviously higher than the quiet values (P<0.001) of the same group. However, there are no differences between the two groups (P>0.05).2. After the quantitative load with great strength, the blood lactic acid values in both the experimental group and the comparative group are obviously higher than the quiet values (P<0.001) of the same group. However, there are no differences between values (P>0.05) after exercise for 5 minutes and 8 minutes. There are no obvious differences (P>0.05) among three testing points between both groups.3. After the quantitative load with great strength, the indexes of the vigour are obviously lower than the quiet values (P<0.05) in both the experimental group and the comparative group. However. There are no obvious differences (P>0.05) between both groups.4. After the quantitative load, on the first day RBC-C3bRR and RBC-ICR in both the experimental group and the comparative group have all increased. However, there are no differences (P>0.05) between both groups. The quiet values RBC-C3bRR in the experimental group on the 15th day and on the 30th day are all lower than those in the comparative group (P<0.01). After loading, they are even much lower (P<0.01). After loading the RBC-ICR in the experimental group on the 15th day and on the 30th day are obviously higher than those in the comparative group (P<0.01). The RBC-C3bRR and the RBC-ICR between both groups are obviously different (P<0.01).5. There are no differences among three tests of the quiet blood lactic acid values (P>0.05) in the experimental group. After exercise for 5 minutes, the blood lactic acid values on the 15th day and on the 30lhday are obviously higher than the value on the first day (P<0.01). The quiet values in the comparative group are similar with those after exercise for 5 minutes (P>0.05). There are no obvious differences of the quiet values between both groups (P>0.05), however, after exercise for 5 minutes the values of the experimental group are obviously higher than those of the comparative group (P<0.001).6. The values of the natural cell-killing activity in the experimental group on the 30th day arehigher than those in the comparative group (P<0.05). 7. The indexes of vigour and the immune globulin IgG,IgA and IgM between theexperimental group and the comparative group have no obvious differences (P>0.05). The conclusions drawn out from the above results are:1. Before the quantitative load, orally taking chitosan for once with a large dosage has no obvious effect on the indexes of blood lactic acid, vigour and the immune adhesive function of erythrocytes after a great strength exercise of athletes.2. Orally taking chitosan with small dosage for a long time has certain effect on the immune function of athletes.2.1 The immune adhesive function of the erythrocyte C3b receptor has decreased in the quiet state of athletes.
