The aim of this article is to learn from German vocational teacher education to reform Chinese vocational teacher education. In view of this, the article sums up the merits of the former, reveals the demerits of the latter, and then, on the basis of comparative analysis, formulates the ideas for the reform of Chinese vocational teacher education as follows: (1) to raise the requirements to control the quality of new students; (2) to establish a mixed system of vocational teacher education to pay equal attention to both academic and professional character; (3) to establish the unified examination system to assure the quality of graduate students; (4) to establish a continuing education system to provide in-service teachers with lifelong learning opportunities.
