It is commonly accepted that writing is the weak point during the English four skills' development in the secondary foreign language education. Set in such situation, a lot of teachers are paying much attention on the writing topic, hoping to find a solution to facilitate students' acquirement of writing skills. In the West, foreign language teaching puts much attention on the correlation between reading and writing, confirming that reading is the basis and prerequisite of the writing, and writing demands comprehensive skills, both are closely related. While in China, although the contemporary textbook follows the principle that writing should base on reading, in practical teaching, reading and teaching are practiced as two independent skills, which prevents students forming new reading habits that writing can be developed in the process of deliberate reading, thus results in students' inefficiency in writing. In today's China, it's widely held that writing plays the great role of a connecting link among the development of language 4 skills, besides, writing together with reading is regarded as the focus and core of English learning on Chinese learning condition. The latest Curriculum Criteria of Secondary Education not only makes the training of students' writing a key aspect, but also puts forward the new concept of curriculum resources, which encourage the design of writing optional course and school-based writing textbook.Firstly, based on the complement and enhancement relation between reading and writing and Krashen's input hypothesis, and by the way of theoretical research, status quo analysis and experimental plan, this paper points out that the divorce of language output from the language input is the right reason for students' inefficiency in writing. To solve the problem, the writer proposes that the reading of the adapted English novels can factually be applied in the senior middle school's writing course, hoping to take the advantage of it to link the language input and the language output. On the one hand, the new type of writing pattern based on the reading of simplified English novels is the right reflection of the complement and enhancement relation between reading and writing, on the other hand, the difficulty level of the simplified English novels is a bit higher than the senior middle school students' present English levels, this point makes itthe perfect writing model for the students to follow. Furthermore, the unique feature of the literary works makes the novels cultivate students 'humanistic spirits as well as develop their writing skills.Next, after the introduction of the comprehensive approach and the process approach, the paper makes a sharp contrast between the traditional Chinese writing way - the product approach and the advanced ones. In the light of the contrast and under the guide of the adapted English novels, the paper explores new teaching material, teaching method and teaching model with good points from the approaches above maintained and bad points neglected. Meanwhile, it illustrates that the new writing pattern based on the reading of the adapted English novels can actually be combined in the writing drills of the present textbook, or be conducted through the ways of optional courses or school-based textbook. Concretely, the new type of writing pattern can be conducted in class by following steps: language input-language enhancement-introduction of writing techniques-writing -evaluation and comment. Then, the paper sums up the importance of building up the correct English writing sense, the essential of forming the new reading habits, the function of the memory work, the necessity of introducing writing techniques, and the possibility of forming the new type of evaluation. In the end, the author raises some reflections, such as: the problem of writing style, the design of new textbook and the cultivation of the teachers' overall qualities, hoping to find more teachers join the writing research , giving great encouragement to the students as well.
