My thesis, in light of the practices of the new curriculum reform, makes an enquiry into the innovative education of history, which, as an organic part of innovative education with the cultivation of students' innovation and competence as its prerequisite, is being developed in response to the times and the inherent needs in the history education reform. My thesis contributes mainly in two ways. Firstly, it articulates the theoretical basis for the innovative education in the middle school history education, namely, the connotation and the background of the age for the concept of innovative education. Secondly, the thesis, based on the characteristics of the subject of history combined with the practices of the middle school history education and the new curriculum reform, reflects upon the fundamental strategies and policies for the innovative education of history mainly from the following aspects: Middle school classroom history education is the main channel of implementing the concept of innovative education; Transforming the old education concept, fostering innovation; and carrying out classroom teaching arrangements reform are the basic ways to implement innovative education; And, developing innovative teachers is the prerequisite of implementing the innovative education.
