Currently, the integration of general education and specialized education to improve a balanced and sustainable development for individuals has become a hot topic of increasing importance in the field of higher education. This paper aims to compose a complete theoretical framework for the integration of both general education and specialized education by investigating their concepts, theoretical origins, significances, rationalities, purposes and principles respectively using a research method combined with literature review and investigation .In this paper, specialized education refers to the type of education which aims to prepare the students for certain occupations. While general education refers to the type of education which focuses on the "Whole Beings", and aims to accomplish self-liberty and to build an interactive relationship between the "Whole Beings" and the natural environment as well as the human society that we live in. The integration of specialized and general education is to adapt the advantages of both types so that to cultivate quality persons who have a well-balanced talents in the following: Profound specialized knowledge; Proficient specialized skills, Reasonable foresights, Dignified personality, and Graceful dispositions.By tracing back to the history, this paper deducts that the integration of general education and specialized education is not only the certain trend for higher education development but also the supreme destiny of education. The triangulated analysis of the need for the integration, the framework of education science, together with the bridge between the interactions of human society also provided a theoretical proof. The subjectivity of human being is the core of general education. However, while we are living in this reality world, we must arrange topresent our value of being humans in our interaction with the society and other members in this society. Hence, the value of subjectivity and the value of functions must be coherent. The author proposes that there should a unity between the following five pairs of relations: the sprit of human science vs. nature science; the training for knowledge vs. specialized skills; the education for intellectual vs. the education for personality; and the visible influence vs. the invisible influence. These five pairs of relations outline the objective framework for the integration of general education and specialized education, the question raised here is "How, on earth could we integrate general education and specialized education". At the last part of this paper, some principles for the integration are suggested. The last three chapters is the focus of this paper. It's also the part the author shows most interests in, as well as the part that most time was invested to. The author's opinion of views formed during the research is represented in this part too. This paper aims to provide theoretical framework for the higher education curriculum design on objects, principles, and composition so that the curriculum reform could achieve the goal to form a more efficient and practical system to improve the quality of education programs.
