Teacher-centered approach in English Language Teaching is not adapt to the requirement of quality-oriented education. In this paper, the author attempts tointroduce a new teaching approach——the learner-centered approach. The contentis the aim of the approach, the principles of the approach, and the application of the approach in (XL classrooms.Through the pre-questionnaire, the students of the professional Secondary School are lack of learning autonomy in ESL classrooms. They are used to being recipients, not initiator. In order to develop student's integrated skills of language, emphasize student' s involvement of active participation in class, enhance student' s motivation; improve their communication competence and cultivate their autonomy. We should choose the learner-centered approach. In the post-questionnaire, 85% of the students are for the learner-centered approach, in the meanwhile the learner-centered approach is adapt to the call for teachers to pay more serious attention to treating students as whole persons rather than receptacles in English Language Teaching for the ultimate goal of the education is to train independent learners.
