Nowadays, distance education is attached great importance more than ever before by every countries in the world, and it is developing vigourously in China. The reason why people are enthusiastic about distance education is that this method is fit for learners, especially adult learners. However, in the process of carrying it out, we encounter such problems as learners'dissatisfaction with our class design, in particular, learning supporting service. Learners often meet with a lot of problems while learning, such as learning motive, psychological state, educational resources and conditions as well as effective study methods and it is difficult for them to get help from schools, teachers and classmates. On the other hand, most teachers lack professional knowledge and skills of helping students solve learning and emotional problems. Therefore, the problem that how distance educational colleages and educators provide proper guidance in study is worthy of researching and consideration. This paper is to systematically discuss the learning guidance in modern distance education, including its connotation, implementing method and current condition of implementation as well as the problems arising from it, hoping to offer some solid evidence and proposals for promoting students'learning efficiency. The research is done with the method of document, questionnare and further interviewing. First of all, this paper discusses the value and status of learning guidance in distance education and make it clear that guiding service is one of the most basic and important man and resource services among learning supporting service of distance education, which is crucial to the quality of education. Then, it analyzes present researching situation and basic theory of modern distance education home and abroad by consulting all sorts of documents. Next, it explores the strategies, content and implementing methods of learning guidance in modern distance education. Finally, by surveying and interviewing the distance educational learners of various majors and ages in the Institution of Online Education of Sichuan Agricultural University and South Western University of Finance and Economy, University of Electronic technology and Science of China, and Chengdu Radio and Television University, the ways in which the learners get learning guidance and the methods and contents of learning guidance that they have access to and they need are shown in the paper. On the basis of this, the paper finally proposed how to perfect their learning service and help learners solve the problems they encounter in the process of learning. to distance education institutions and colleages . As the general research shows, essential, proper and effective learning guidance is a key factor to modern distance education. Ignoring the learning guidance service will necessarily result in problems in the operation of teaching and learning in distance education. In our country, although many institutions and colleages of distance education have attach importance to learning guidance and adopted some mutimedia ways and skills, it still can't meet learners demand. We still need to form the educational concept of "service"in various aspects.
