Newly appointed teachers is a special group in the teaching forces, Newly Appointed Teachers professional development is critical to their professional development and the overall improvement of the schools where they teach. Focused on the professional development of the newly appointed teachers, this article analyzes some successful cases in typical countries, discusses the international tendency, aim and purpose, basic structure and content, management and evaluation of the standards for newly appointed teachers professional development,etc. At last, on the basis of the comparison, it may provide decisions and suggestions for our making standards for newly appointed teachers professional development.This article can be divided into four parts:The first part is to analyze and define some conceptions related to standards for newly appointed teachers professional development based on the importance and purpose of making them. We will summarize a series of basic questions in order lead to introducing the international tendency of newly appointed teachers professional development and the establishment and implementation of its standards in the following passages.In the next part, we will introduce the establishment and implementation of the standards for newly appointed teachers professional development in several countries, for example, The United States and Britain,etc, mainly present the general picture and characteristics of these two countries' development standards. Particularly, we'll discuss from the trend of those two countries' newly appointed teachers professional development to the establishment and implementation of the standards. We'll focus on analyzing the structure and content of the standards in America, management and implementation, the form of organization, evaluation and assessment,etc.In the third part, there is a general picture of newly appointed teachers professional development of our country including its weakness and shortage. Based on the sketch, we'll discuss one successful example of domestic implementation of newly appointed teachers professional development (index of teachers professional development of education system in the city of Nanning) in order to improve our country's related researches on Standards for Newly Appointed Teachers professional development afterwards.Comparative Analysis of newly appointed teachers professional development between our country and those western countries is followed in the last part. Based on the comparison, the article reveals our weakness in the newly appointed teachers professional development once more. Comparativing to the developed country's successful experience, we want to supply suggestion and decision on how to set up the standards for newly appointed teachers professional development in our country: attach importance to the continuum of teachers professional development and its each changeable stages; establish clearly articulated induction program for newly appointed teachers; set up the standards for newly appointed teachers professional development; build the system of evaluation and mechanism of encouragement for newly appointed teachers professional development; foster collaborative culture for teaching and studying; give governmental financial supports as much as possible.In a word, the essence of standards for newly appointed teachers professional development is to promote the professional development of the newly appointed teachers by means of setting up and improving each developing goal and teaching criterion for newly appointed teachers, which the overall quality of the teaching forces can be improved accordingly. To take lead in the development of Fundamental Education in the new century, we should learn from the successful practices of America, Britain and other countries and try to surpass them, so that we can establish systematic and well-structured standards for newly appointed teachers professional development in our own country to ensure a good beginning in their career development.
