Job mobility has always been an important topic which attracts sociologists' attention. In pace with the deepening of the institutional reform, job mobility feature, which never appeared before, came into our eyesight. The new job mobility can be divided into two types, one is brought by the adjustment of the industrial structure, e.g. farmers' frenzied hunt for jobs in cities, another is employers' freely mobility after the reform of company's labor institution. Now, a lot of sociologists put emphases on the first type, yet very few works in the second field. In fact, the "special" mobility (volunteered job mobility) is an important topic in the sociology of work.. And the phenomenon of "the white- collar workers job-hopping", which has already aroused heated discussion in our society is an eye attract in the job market. So, this research has both academic and realistic meaning. By research, I found that most of the white-collar job hoppers change their job not for the reason of the work place, work environment or to taste different jobs but to change job in the same field and at the same time to accumulate and operate their capitals so as to improve themselves. Based on this observation, I think this volunteered job mobility is meaningful. It reflected the process of accumulating, ameliorating and operating capitals so as to raise the power and status in the job "field". What's more, this process provides us a good point to understand the knowledge society and the characteristics of Chinese white-collar workers.Based on the case study and Bourdieu's theory of "field" and "capital", the essay mainly on the question that "what ability helps during the mobility" and "how these abilities are formed". The first chapter deals with the phenomenon, its social background, the rise of the question, the meanings of this research and also the existed relevant research work. The second chapter deals with the importance of cultural capital. Here, cultural capital shows as inside cultural capitals, i.e. technical skills, knowledge on profession, professional spirit and institutional cultural capitals i.e. diploma, credentials. These capitals are powerful for their upwards job-hopping. In the same time, agents actively take several strategies to form these capitals. The third chapter mainly discusses the function of social capital from the aspect of social network. This chapter also analyzes on white-collar job-hoppers' social capital operative strategies. The third and the fourth chapter both concluded the characteristics of capital operation. The last chapter has two parts. One is to make conclusions on the two kinds of capitals in the job field of white-collar workers and on the angle of view of the capital operation. Another part is to discuss the social structural factors and the habitus of the white-collar workers.
