The classroom is the main place for students' study, Student-centered principle puts emphasis on students' participation and experience in mathematics class. But the slow learners in mathematics classroom often demonstrate negative behaviors. According to a large amount of literatures of participation in the classroom, this research defined students' participation in mathematics classroom into the behavior participation, the emotion participation, the cognition participation. In order to understand the participation situation and the reason that the slow learners participate insufficiently in the classroom, In order to offer the valuable materials for the facts that promote the slow learners students to grow and participate actively, this research adopts the qualitative research, regard ten slow learners in mathematics class of tenth graders of our school as the research subjects, having carried on one-year research.Through the observation and interview, and the investigation of "report of classroom reflection", it is found that the participation situations of the slow learners are: Participating in the behavior, they are more apt to participate in the behavior negatively than other students, such as speaking, deserting, dozing off, making the thing having nothing to do with the class etc. Participating in the respect of the emotion, the positive emotion is participated in little, the passive emotion is participated in more, the students do not like mathematics, even dislike mathematics, seldom enjoy the successful happiness. Cognition participation stays in the simple level, which is shown as the cognitive strategies of limited memory or imitation etc. They seldom participate in such profound cognition as understanding, thinking, creating, etc. It is discover that passive emotion experience and shallow cognition participation often make them easy to participate in the negative behavior. Through further interview, this research find two reasons that make the less advanced students not participate in class. One reason lies on the cognitive respect, such as intelligence, students' basic knowledge,strategies of learning; etc. the other reason is the emotion respect; such as interest; motivation; persistency; attitude; anxiety; etc.
