Lu Zuofu was a modern a modern industrialist, social activist and an outstandingeducationist. During his early life, he believed in the theory that "Education can save nation."At that time, he was engaged in various occupations such as teacher, reporter and so on, inorder to promote the movement of "New Education" and "New Culture". From 1921 to thebeginning of 1925, he carried out the tests of new education reforms twice in the southwestarea. In the second half of 1925, he established Minsheng Shipping Company and threwhimself in the industry management. Then he carried out his experiment by schooling thecompany and practiced his "Staff Education" thoughts. In 1927, when Lu Zuofu served as thedirector of Jialing River Three Gorges Gap-Bureau, he took Beibei as the center to carry outhis test of country construction and made outstanding achievement. All together hiseducational activities lasted for more than 40 years. His activities were mainly distributed inChong Qing and Si Chuan, which push forward the regional education modernization processof those areas. From the educational practices, Lu Zuofu formed rich and unique educationalideas, which are open, leading, highly practical and comprehensive, including PublicEducation, School Education, Staff Education, Teaching Theory, etc. As the importantcomponent of Chinese modern education ideas and theories, Lu's ideas have a certain impacton the process of Chinese education modernization and become precious property in thehistory of modern Chinese education.This article is divided into 4 parts, probing into Lu's career and his education thoughts.The first part mainly introduces his biography and his career development. The second partgives a detailed account of Lu's education practices and its influences. The third part goesdeep into the research on Lu's educational ideology. The forth part introduces thecharacteristics of Lu's education practices and thoughts and summaries the enlightenment andinfluence on the improvement of modern education.Studying, researching and learning from Lu's educational practices and thoughts, we cangain many revelations for the development of Chinese education modernization. Lu'sdiscussion on teaching and the education purpose theory on improving the quality andactivation the ability of student, have inspiring role on modern quality education. Lu'sdiscussion on improving teacher's quality and stabling the teacher group provide a usefulreference for modern education manager. Also his discussion on the staff education ofcultivating company culture and enhancing the occupational ethic education, point the wayfor the modern occupation education. His thoughts of enhancing the cultural education to putforward the economy development hold the same view with Chinese modern constructionpolicy.Lu Zuofu stands on the forward. His modernized theories cannot be realized in 1920s to1930s, but they are useful for modern construction and can play an inspiring role for today'smodernization.
